a simple yellow flower is enough. at some point the zinnia, phlox, cosmos, and clematis will still be blooming. then again under that simple yellow flower is one more bud that wants to bloom. there are a handful of seed pods that carry the future of next year. so is it flowers that mark the continuation of the season ? is it new buds ? or is it new seeds ? or at some point do i realize one season flows into the other with only the merest shadow of a line separating one season from the other ? it will happen whether i am paying attention or not. whether mother nature pays attention of not. it will just happen…
