this is a tall red daylily with a yellow throat. 30 inches 76 cm high and a flower 8 inches 20 cm across. the description describes the throat as a cream not yellow. i need to try crossing this into purples looking for white throats. and cross it back to She Who Must Be Obeyed. both plants have Rigamarole in their parentage. good things might happen from those crosses. keep stirring…
Very nice, John, I have these in my garden and also peach coloured ones.
Thank Roberta. They do brighten the garden.
Puppet lady seems to fit her.
She was named for another daylily grower who was also a puppeteer. I have never looked/thought about the plant in terms of the name. So I will just let that lie where it is. Sometimes a name just fits a plant. I have seen that with other plants just not this one – yet. Who knows it may happen. I do know the growth and bloom habits of this plant are very good. And the parentage/genetics of this plant exist in a few other plants here in the garden. So I should expect an interesting ‘show’ when I explore this line further. Thanks Lauren !

This is certainly a nice one to work with.
Thanks Dan. It is odd in a way. I have several including this one that have been in the garden for quite a while and for one reason or another never got into the seedling program. Reviewing the parentage makes me want to come back to this one. Now can I remember that until next summer ? ! Thanks Dan.
Great looking flower, John.
Glad you enjoy it John. Thanks
