fascination

this flower is called Blue Lustre. blue is not an easy color in daylilies. it hovers around the edge of purple. and temperatures can affect the color from one day to the next. the person who hybridized this flower saw some blue there. i could be blind or it might be the soil in my garden. the magic of the flower for me lies in the combination of purple and white. if blue happens to come along from it some day i certainly won’t fight it…

Yes and no. For me at least. If it somehow comes along I will definitely enjoy it. Some people are coming very close. Some days it is there and if my understanding is right other days it is not. Happy Sunday John.

I think the ‘blue’ refers to the area just inside the darker line. Just a guess. It was not mine to name and daylily folks have been fascinated by and chasing blue for quite awhile. I really cannot blame them though I would tend towards your choice. I mostly just enjoy the flower and think of ways to play with the pollen. Thanks Beth
