the flowers are nearly done. the daylilies are mostly spent. brown stalks above the leaves. mostly. seed pods here and there. some green and not yet ripe. some failed and wrinkling. waiting to fall off. and some split open. waiting to be sprung by a creature of the breeze. a wind whipping and flinging. or a harvest by a gardener waiting for next year’s crop. so is the garden dying. or waiting to be reborn. or is it neither. merely nature in its own motion…
nothing will stop their rhythm
Thanks Beth
Watercolor memories.
Thanks John
I have begonias, impatiens, coleus and a streptocarpella that are still doing well, but it’s only a matter of weeks and cooler weather that will change them. And then I have the sad task of emptying the balconies of pots and color. All we can do, John, is enjoy it while it’s here and plan for new loveliness in 2022.
You got that right Mary. Sooner or later this year’s party will end. And we just need to get ready for the next one. Which would be half the fun – getting ready for the next party.
Definitely preparing to be reborn.
I have one bud from one very late bloomer that I didn’t really expect, then time to start garden cleanup. The circle of the seasons.
Thanks always for sharing!
Clean up and garden moves are starting here. Thanks Susan!
