a small word for a big subject. small in many aspects. it sells it subject short in a vast array of ways. it is more than the mud plants and trees grow in. it is a biosphere of life on which plants ride in many ways as much as a ship sails the sea. what we see above the soil only hints at what goes on below. the fungi, bacteria, and other animals that populate the soil are a wealth to be studied. their interrelationships are only briefly known and studied. the fairy rings we see growing in the grass only hint at the wonders below. for myself i will be pleased if i only discover a bit of the magic that hides in this flower. if only i can tease a small peak in the seedlings it shares…
