yellow and

purple. one of the things about Sally Sue is it is tall. it can stand over the 48 inch 121.9 cm fence that surrounds our garden. and i might add a fence which provides absolutely no protection against hungry deer. however that is another story…

Do deer eat daylilies? My cats will chomp a blossom now and then, but usually spit it out quickly. Sally Sue…good name for a Lily. Has me singing “Peggy Sue, Peggy Sue…” I don’t know any song for Sally Sue…an oversight I suppose. well now its almost Valentine’s Day…always something. 🙂

Deer will eat daylilies. They are creatures of habit. They are in the neighborhood. So far I have cultivated the habit of them mostly staying out of my yard. Mostly. They do sample them now and then. I put out lots of things that send the deer message not welcome here. The rabbits have up until now not been a problem. So don’t talk about yours too loud please. I am not aware of any Sally Sue songs or for that matter Peggy Sue either. Thanks Gradmama !

We have a lot of deer around here. Our corner of the city is like an animal sanctuary, the deer often cross from one wooded area to another. We had an apple orchard here for years, and until recently the deer would stop to pick apples on their way to the back by the highway fence.
