remember

i have to remember – since this flower did not bloom last year.  this year i will hope for its return.  it should be in the 2011 seedling bed.  should.  strange things happen in the fall when plants move.  this flower is at the other end of the spectrum from last night’s flower.  where last night’s flower is bold this flower is soft spoken.  and in spite of that equally stunning.  the wisp of color between the pink petals and white throat is what i will call cloud content.  it is a drifting hint of something that you cannot quite hold in your hands.  three images of the cross Give Me Eight X Smoke Scream.  first the parents and then the seedling…

just a bit more exploration.  this is a new seedling.  a seedling from a parent that has not been neglected and overlooked.  this particular cross is Smoke Scream x Black Plush) x Fol de Rol.   a bit of searching will turn up other Fol de Rol seedlings.  however this one requires no search.  two images..

more sibs

there once were some seedlings from a cross of Smoke Scream x Diabolique.  this could of been one of them.  the other one is still here planted up front along the porch.   the reason for the cross ?  both of them poly occasionally – they throw and extra set of petals.  the hope of the cross – that the seedlings from the new cross would poly more often.  this is one of those seedlings.  time will tell if it polys more often.  three images, first one from last growing season (2013), and two more from this year…  and no it does not always poly.

that would be see one see another.  two cousins, both crossed from Smoke Scream to different parents.  The first was crossed to Diabolique and the second to a seedling from Desert Icicle x Autumn Minaret.  a truly remarkable similarity.  they are both quite beautiful and beyond that they are both quite different.  three images…

and much like the 849th post i can still do pretty much what i so desire.  so yes it will be daylilies again.  it is good to be a minion who has been instructed to post about daylilies.  does purple sound good for tonight ?  okay – we will do lavender instead.  lavender and purple… well knock my minion goggles right off here is the seedling and the flower…  two images  Smoke Scream x Talon

deja first

that is what you see before you see it again.  this is one of my favorite seedlings.  so when i start back at the beginning of summer and go through the pictures there is a fairly good chance both you and i will experience deja vu all over again later.  the cross is Smoke Scream x ( Desert Icicle x Autumn Minaret.  pink cream, purple, and a green throat – what is not to love about that ?  i hope you enjoy it as much as i do.  or find one the other ones that work just as well for you.  after all that is why flowers come in lots of different combinations.  two images

playing with pollen

that is what i do in the garden.  and this flower is one whose pollen has been played with.  if you put Smoke Scream into the search box, well be prepared for several reads.  have something good to sip for you might be busy for a while.  from one day to another the temperature can change this from a red purple to a blue purple.  and no matter the shade i find this flower and its children interesting.  try the search to see where the children of this flower have gone.  three images

ever notice that early style of young artists ?  get all the crayons out of the box and all over the floor where you can work with them.  none of that putting each one away back into the box.  well i like that style in the garden too.  try all the colors and don’t worry about staying inside the lines either.  so here is the seedling.  a picture of the seedling next to one parent.  and a picture of the two parents.  the cross is  Smoke Scream x Black Plush ) x Fol de Rol

back to this garden

it was wonderful to see other gardens.  and it is just as wonderful to be back in this garden to see what is happening this summer.  some, many things are just starting to bloom.  this is one bloomed today.  it is a seedling that was selected and moved last summer, a cross of Give Me Eight x Smoke Scream.  seedlings can change as they mature  –  so i will be watching this one.  so far it resembles the form and color of last year only a little richer and stronger.  perhaps i will find the image from last year.  or perhaps i will just keep observing this one and move on with it as it grows…
